“Yu Matsuri”is held at Hine shrine on summer night not only to pray for getting rid of evil spirits and safety of the water resource but also to express gratitude to the boon of Kasii river.
At the both sides of the approach to the shrine, there are rows of stalls called “Yomise.” You can enjoy buying your favorite snacks and playing games such as goldfish scooping game, or ring toss, and so on. One of the features of the festival is that worshippers can pass through “Chinowa”(big wreath made of sacred reed rope) to make both mind and body clean and purify them.
